The
trekking course leads mainly to the two base camps, north Base
Camp Pangpema(5350 m), and south Base Camp Oktang (5040 m).
Starting points are either to fly from Biratnagar to Suketar
and to walk to Gunsa, or to drive to Basantpur and walk through
Milke Danda.
In the beginning, the trek passes villages of Rai, Limbu, Gurung
and then Sherpa People. There are two options for the trekking
route, one across the southern flanks of Boktoh Peak to Ghunsa
Khola and to the north side of the massif, the other, a higher
route Via Sinelapche and Mirgin La, following a better trail
and affording better views of both The south face of Mt. Kangchenjunga
on the way up and the south face of Jannu on the Way down. The
climax of this trek in both altitude and scenic splendour,is
undoubtedly A few more days - hike upto the glacier and to Pangpema
from Ghunsa. Numerous Buddhist Mani Walls and chortens add more
attraction to Trekkers. |
