It
is surely the most popular destination in the country, and
also known as the home of the Sherpapeople - the indigenous
ones. Khumbu is a paradise of incomparable mountain Splendor,
boasting four of the worlds` sixteen 8.000 m- high peaks:
Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu, and many others in
excess of 7.000 m. Gokyo Lake in upper Dudh Kosi Valley offers
a fine and arguably even more spectacular route into the heart
of Khumbu than the popular direct trail up the Khumbu Valley,
especially when combined with a crossing of Cho La to Lobuche.
As with the conventional approach to Everest Base Camp, the
stages recommended on the trek are purposely short to give
you time to acclimatize. This trekking course starts from
Lukla or Phaplu by air (45 min) , or from Jiri by drive.
